Title: Beautiful Deception ~ Pride and
Honor 3
Author: Ember-Raine Winters
Release Date: June 30th, 2017
Genre: Romantic Suspense
This is the third book in the Pride and Honor Series, but it can be read as a standalone
Marcy
He knows. He knows what I did and there is no way he will ever forgive me. That’s the least of my worries. Now, that secret, that little boy that holds my heart in his hands has been stolen from us. I’ll do whatever it takes to get him back. Even if it costs me my life.
Mac
Marcy had always been mine. I thought she always would be. A misunderstanding ruined that. Ruined any chance for us to be happy. She stole that chance… that life. I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to forgive her. The truth is I never stopped loving her, and I’ll do whatever it takes to save her.

The plane ride had been over five hours so far, and it felt like the longest of my
life. I didn’t know what was going on with Marcy and Kenzie, and worse, I had
no idea where my son was, and that was killing me the most.
Twitch was doing his nervous twitchy thing and it had me on edge. “What’s the matter,
brother?” I asked warily.
“I got a bad feeling about this.”
“Shit. Really?” I got up from my seat. I knew better than anyone what Twitch’s
feelings resulted in. He had an uncanny sixth sense when things were about to
go bad and fast. I couldn’t sit still any longer.
“Mac, it’s going to be okay, we will get him back,” Tasha said vehemently.
I nodded but continued pacing. There was nothing else I could do until we landed
and saw what the situation was. Tasha was upset too. Marcy was her friend and
Tasha’s dad, Barnes, was responsible for this mess. We all knew he was behind
it, but we didn’t have one fucking detail yet.
The worst part of this whole shit show? That I was still pissed at Marcy, and I was
feeling completely guilty about that. How could I be so angry with someone and
still love her at the same time? It had been twelve years since she left me,
and yet I still thought of little else. I should have fought harder. I should
have stayed in Baltimore and made her talk to me.
The flight attendant came out and told us to put our seat belts on in preparation
of our descent, so I sat down next to Tasha. I never stopped moving though. My
knee was bouncing up and down burning off my nervous energy.
“You still love her don’t you?” Tasha placed her hand on my knee.
“It doesn’t matter.”
“Sure it does.”
“No, Tasha. It really doesn’t. She made her choice. She knew what her decision would
do to me and she did it anyway. She knew how important having a family was to
me and she stole that from me. So, no, the fact that I still love her makes no
difference because she obviously never loved me.”
Tasha glared at me for all of five seconds before her tirade began. “That’s bullshit
Mac and you know it. I could tell when you all rescued us from Doug’s basement
that she was still in love with you. I could tell the day that Twitch proposed
to me and she screamed in my face about Twitch ruining everything that she felt
guilty for what she had done. I had no idea what it was at the time, but I
could see it. You both need to get over your hang ups, stop being stupid, and
just be together because everyone can see that’s what you both want.”
“Okay, babe,” Twitch said softly, seated on the other side of her. “That’s enough.”
She looked angry and I had no idea why. I had heard Marcy had freaked on Tasha that
morning but I wasn’t sure why.
Even if I hadn’t found out the way I did, I would have found out eventually,
especially now with all the craziness. I thought about that in silence the
whole drive to Brock’s compound.
“Shit, is that smoke?” Griffin asked when we were about a mile away. Everyone started
yelling at once.
“Go, go, go. You have to go faster,” I yelled at the same time Tasha said, “Holy
fuck, holy fuck, that’s Brock’s compound.”
“Tasha, it’s okay. I’m sure they are fine. Brock has cameras everywhere. They saw it
coming.” Twitch attempted reassurance while rubbing her shoulders. “They had to
have seen it coming.”
He added the last part mostly to himself, but he looked at me with a grimace. I
knew he was as worried as Tasha, but I was jumping out of my skin. Marcy had to
be okay. She just had to be. There was no other option. I was not losing them
both.
The gate was a twisted pile of burning metal and I thought the worst. The thick
column of smoke got thicker and hung heavier in the air the closer we got to
the house. Griffin was driving as fast as he could, but there was very little
visibility. If we weren’t careful the smoke would cause an accident and we
might never make it to Pix.
The bright orange flames engulfed the house. My heart nearly beat out of my chest
when I saw it.
“Shit, what do we do?” Trey asked, panicked.
“Get on the phone with emergency services and leave an anonymous call about the
fire. We will search the surrounding area for any sign of them,” Griffin
commanded.
“If they were in the safe room, there is a possibility they are still in the house.
How do we get in there to check?” I asked completely irrationally.
“We don’t.”
“Fuck that. I’m going in there and you’re not stopping me, Griffin.”
I jumped from the SUV and went around to the back. Grabbing my bag, I rifled
through it and found a small hand towel and a bottle of water. After pouring
some on the towel, I dumped the rest on my head.
“Bro, you can’t go in there,” Twitch said from behind me.
“Yes, I can, and I am.” I shoved past him towards the house.
“Mac, you can’t.” Tasha attempted to get in front of me.
“Don’t. He popped his shoulder out of place trying to get to you when you were locked
in that basement.” I pointed wildly at my cousin. “He was a mad man when it
came to looking for you. I will move you out of my way if I have to, Tasha.”
Thankfully, she stepped aside after that. The closer I got to the house the hotter it got.
It looked like whoever had set fire to the house had busted the door down
first. I got down low and held the towel over my nose and mouth and went
inside. It was like a horror show in there. The heat was so bad I felt like my
blood was boiling and my skin was searing off.
“Marcy,” I yelled through the towel over my mouth. “Marcy.”
Please God, let her be okay.
That was when I heard a slight tapping. A support beam had fallen and held the door
to the saferoom closed from the outside. The tapping was faint, and I prayed
that the room was air locked. If not she would have smoke inhalation by the
time I was able to get to her.
The beam was on fire and blocking the door. Removing my jacket, I wrapped it around
my hands and grabbed the only part of the beam that wasn’t burning and pulled.
I used all my strength, but it refused to budge and I knew that I couldn’t
continue my heavy breathing, or I would be dead in minutes.
A hand came out then, and grabbed another part of the beam. Trey and I lifted it
together and moved it away from the door.
I pushed the door open and that was when I saw her. All five-foot-two beautiful
Pixie laying on the floor. Her face was ashen, and I could tell she was barely
hanging on. Picking her up, I cradled her to my chest and silently prayed.
Trey and I tried to move quickly, but the house was falling down around us. Every
few steps, we had to dodge a board or a beam. The floor beneath was losing its
integrity as well.
“Hurry Trey, or we’re gonna be buried alive,” I shouted just as the floor gave way
beneath my foot.
“Mac,” Trey bellowed, not realizing what had happened. “Come on, man. We gotta go.”
“Take her and get out of here. As soon as I get my leg out I will be right behind
you.”
Trey started to argue, but the look I gave him was lethal. He grabbed Marcy and
headed stealthily to the door.
When they cleared the front door, I covered my mouth with the edge of my shirt to
get a breath of air and then attempted to get my foot out of the floor. Every
time I pulled, a searing pain shot through it. I gritted my teeth and tried
again, but I was already coughing from the lack of oxygen in the room. I laid
my head down to give myself a moment and try to catch a breath, but it was
useless. Just before everything went black, I felt a pair of hands pulling me
back towards the flames.

Coffee With Characters with Derrick Porter from Wolf’s Challenge

Thank you so much for joining us today! Please introduce yourself! Tell us who you are and what you do! Are you the main character in the story or a supporting role? What do you do for a living? How old are you?
1. Tell us about your story. What is it about and what role do you play?
Hey all. My name is Derrick Porter. I’m a business lawyer, recovering workaholic, and most importantly, a shifter wolf. I live in Great Oaks, Virginia. My story began when I fell for a fiery, red-headed artist named Sydney who wanted to keep me in the friend zone. She didn’t know I was a wolf shifter, didn’t really know me at all, but she was convinced I was a player. My main goal in Christina Lynn Lambert’s debut novel Wolf’s Challenge was to convince Sydney she would be the only woman for me. It was a challenge for me to be patient and not ask Sydney for everything I wanted too soon.

Wolf’s Challenge is the first in the Stranger Creatures series. There’s a lot of weird creatures out there in the world, and crazy things can happen when people discover their world isn’t as plain vanilla as they thought, but don’t worry, each book in the Stranger Creatures series can be read as a standalone. Christina hates cliffhangers but she loves sexy alpha men. I’m a wolf shifter so I’m strong and powerful in both wolf and human form, but I’m not a caveman about it. I’m pretty clever too and I use that to my advantage whenever and wherever I can.

2. Can you tell us about one of your most distinguishable features?
In wolf form, I’m larger than the average wolf. My wolf’s teeth are razor sharp and my senses are off the charts, except my sense of smell which is still above average. As a man, I don’t guess my features are that notable. I’m about 6 feet tall and muscular (but not steroid gym rat huge). My hair is black and my eyes are grayish blue but they get darker depending on my mood.
3. Do you have any birthmarks or tattoos?
No birthmarks or tattoos. My left ankle bears a faded brand of the letter e just below the faint scars from an injury that never fully healed. The brand and the scars are the result of the anti-shifter group called the Equalizers finding me at the weakest, most vulnerable moment of my life.
4. Would you ever want to go hang out with your author? If so, what would you do together?
Yes, I think I’d enjoy hanging out with Christina. We could watch X-Files together or maybe hit a comic book convention and score a bag full of new books, or we could go for a hike in one of Virginia’s beautiful parks.
5. If you could have a super power what would it be, and why?
The ability to teleport would be great. Long drives and plane rides annoy the wolf side of me.
6. What is your biggest pet peeve when dealing with others?
I hate liars and I especially hate traitors. People who betray their shifter brethren get dealt with –torture, shifter jail, or death. My vote is for a fair amount of the first two before sending a traitor to the bottom of the ocean in tiny little pieces.
7. What would I love the most about you?
I’m a pretty decent guy, or try to be anyway. I screw up from time to time but I would give my life to protect the people I love, whether they’re shifters or regular humans. I’m not perfect but I’m loyal.
8. What would I hate the most about you?
Some humans hate shifters just because we’re different. They think we’ll try to use our strength and abilities to take over the world or something, but I hope you’ll understand that most shifters just want to be left alone to be what they are in peace. Shifters don’t want to take over the world, we just want to keep it from being destroyed.
9. Do you think the author portrayed you accurately?
Christina really got inside my head, a little too much for my liking to be honest, when she wrote about me. My strengths, my weaknesses, my fears, and doubts, yeah, she put all that stuff down on paper for everyone to see.
10. What is your idea of a perfect day?
A whole day in bed with Sydney where we have nowhere to be, no distractions, and no disruptions.

11. What is your greatest fear?
Losing the people I love. Rabbit shifters are a close second, though.

12. Someone is secretly in love with you.  Who is it and how do you feel about that?
Sydney’s the only woman I want. Nobody else has a chance in hell with me.

13. When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
A football player or a helicopter pilot.
14. If you knew you were going to die tomorrow, what would you do today?
I’d make sure I spent the day with Sydney and Angel along with my best friend Jack and his wife Carly, who is actually Sydney’s best friend. It wouldn’t matter where we were or what we did, just as long as we were together and I got to say goodbye. I can’t think about this anymore though. I’ve lost too many people and I can’t imagine being separated from Sydney and sweet little Angel.
15. What is the one food you can’t live without?
Nachos with chili, cheese, and jalapeños.
16. If they turned the book into a movie, who would be cast to play you?
Maybe Karl Urban or Dave Franco. They look a little like me, I think. Here’s a picture below if you want an idea of what I look like.

Christina says to tell you that if you want a peek at the story or if you want to learn more about her you can check out her blog site at http://christinalynnlambertwordpress.com and her Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/christinalynnlambert

Flash Fiction Time! I know you love it! Prompt: Who knew tears could burn?

Hi guys! My flash is a bit short this week cuz I have been super busy and stuff. Please don’t hate me! Here is your weekly dose of whatever the heck pours from my deranged mind! I hope you enjoy it! Couldn’t resist adding this bad boy here in honor of Luke!alpha-shirt

Who knew tears could burn? He asked himself a thousand times as he carried her sleeping body across the house. He was lucky that he had super human reflexes or she would have ended up on the ground. Her tears burned like fire searing his skin. He hated that he made her cry. He hated the disbelief in her eyes as she looked at him. The doubt he saw there nearly killed him. His wolf was in his mind howling his rage and Luke pulled her tighter against him. Even though her tears burned him straight to his tortured soul.
If she was scared of him now, what would she think about him after finding out the things he had done for the safety of his pack? Would she ever be able to love him? Would she ever forgive him for his trickery? It was all to protect her, but she didn’t know that. She didn’t know anything about him.
He was expecting her to love him and trust him, but she couldn’t do that until she got to know him. The bond wouldn’t do everything for him. He brushed a stray lock of hair from her face and gently laid her on the bed. Turning to leave he felt a small hand grab his wrist and looked back at her.
Her eyes were filled with those damned boiling tears but they were filled with relief as well.
“You are still here,” she whispered with a soft smile gracing her beautiful plump kissable lips. He looked at her in confusion but sat next to her on the bed. Her flesh was burning the skin of his wrist and he realized that her tears weren’t the only thing that burned.
“I’m not going anywhere.”

Coffee With Characters with Tessa Micah Bell

Thank you so much for joining us today! Please introduce yourself! Tell us who you are and what you do! Are you the main character in the story or a supporting role? What do you do for a living? How old are you?

Hi, I’m Tessa Micah Bell. I come from a messed up family that set me on the road to a messed up childhood and adolescence, so in adulthood I’m kind of messed up. When you meet me in my first book, A Secret to the Grave, I’m twenty-five and I meet the man who I end up marrying. Unfortunately we’re both kind of messed up so by the time our story ends two and a half years later in Forgotten we have really managed to make a mess of our lives. Sorry if my answers are a little short, I don’t really like talking about myself so I don’t know why Jane signed me up for this thing.

1. Tell us about your story. What is it about and what role do you play?

A Secret to the Grave is about one of the many mistakes that I’ve made in the past that got other people hurt. I try to fix things on my own and for some reason people seem to think that’s not a good idea. I don’t know why, I’m perfectly capable of taking care of my own messes. I did get to meet Parker though, so one good thing came out of that book. The rest of our books are about us trying to make our lives work. I’m stubborn, keep secrets, and don’t want anyone to take care of me, and Parker has white knight syndrome, so sometimes our relationship gets kind of crazy.

ASTTG new front cover

2. Can you tell us about one of your most distinguishable features?

*shrugs uncomfortably* My eyes I guess. People seem to like them. They’re kind of blue and kind of green with some specs of yellow in the middle. And my hair because its naturally white blonde and a huge curly mess. Although its not a physical feature the thing most people would probably say is the most distinguishable thing about me is my IQ is 178.

3. Do you have any birthmarks or tattoos?

No, I don’t have either.

4. Would you ever want to go hang out with your author? If so, what would you do together?

We might hang out, I guess. I don’t really have a lot of friends because I tend to wind up getting people hurt, but if we did hang out we would go horse riding, I love to ride, and Jane does too, so that could be fun.

5. If you could have a super power what would it be, and why?

The ability to see the future, because then I could see what bad things are going to happen to people and stop them before they happen.

6. What is your biggest pet peeve when dealing with others?

When they think they know better than me about what’s best for me.

7. What would I love the most about you?

I am very loyal to the people I love and would do anything for them, including risk my life.

8. What would I hate the most about you?

I’m stubborn, I actually don’t think this is a bad thing, but apparently everyone else does. I can be bossy. I’m a bit of a control freak. I value my privacy so sometimes I keep secrets. I like people to think I’m strong so I’m constant telling people that I’m fine even when we both know it’s a lie, I’ve been told that’s annoying. I don’t like to let people know what is going on inside my head which I know can be annoying but I’ve been hurt and let down a lot so its hard for me to trust people, so I prefer to do things myself. I don’t know why I told you that, so lets just keep it between us, okay?

9. Do you think the author portrayed you accurately?

Well she kind of portrayed my stubbornness as a bad thing, and really I don’t think I’m as crazy stubborn as she made me out to be, I just like to do things my way because my way is usually best.

10. What is your idea of a perfect day?

Being able to relax and not worry about anything at all. Parker and I would go horse riding up on my estate and then maybe have a picnic, and just enjoy hanging out and being together.

11. What is your greatest fear?

Being alone.

12. Someone is secretly in love with you. Who is it and how do you feel about that?

Before Parker I didn’t date. Ever. So that kind of freaks me out.

13. When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?

Happy. Wait that’s kind of a depressing answer, well when I was really young I wanted to do a million things, ride horses, be a doctor, a sculptor, an artist, an inventor, an astronaut, and a hot air balloon pilot.

14. If you knew you were going to die tomorrow, what would you do today?

I’ve faced death before and the one thing I wished I had done was tell the people I love just how much I love them and how important they are to me.

15. What is the one food you can’t live without?

Lasagne, its not my favorite food but it is Parker’s and he loves it when I make it for him.

16. If they turned the book into a movie, who would be cast to play you?

Uh . . . umm . . . hmm . . . is it wrong if I said I hoped no one ever turned my book into a movie? Because that would be way embarrassing.

Colleen Hoover and Anthony’s Village

This is a touching story. Please share and go donate to this go fund me page!

Do you ever have those days that puts your life in perspective and you really feel like a piece of crap for feeling down? Today was that day for me. I met a wonderful young man by the name of Anthony via Colleen Hoover today who destroyed my heart and restored my faith in humanity.

Please Read Anthony’s Story below as told by Colleen Hoover.  Anthony is not a character,he is a real live flesh and bone human who will make you wake up and realize you’re more blessed than you know!

I tried to do this in a video, but I kept crying. And you all know how much I treasure my tough persona. So instead, I’m writing up a little backstory for my friend, Anthony. He has no idea I’m doing this, but luckily he doesn’t have a Facebook. Maybe he won’t find out right away. 😉

I met Anthony…

Review: Pink Moon by Tonya Coffey

I give Pink Moon 4 stars!

😁😁😁😁

I received a free copy of Pink Moon the third book in The New World Series in exchange for an honest review. Pink Moon is a fantasy romance novel set in a world parallel to this one. I guess it’s parallel the author never really goes into specifics about it. I would have liked to know more about where they were in connection to each other. It’s a completely different world from every other fairy story I have read. The author does a great job building her world and explaining what happened to cause things to be the way they are. The pacing was perfect. I loved it!
I didn’t care for Jessa or Micha. I thought they were weak. They let everyone control their lives and decisions. To me, I would have liked to see Micha stand up for himself and Jessa against the shadows at least a little bit, when he didn’t I lost a little respect for him. Despite not really caring for the main characters I found myself hoping that they would stand up for themselves and each other.

The end killed me and since I am so invested in this story I am patiently waiting for the next book in the series.
